If you were unable to attend Florida A&M University’s homecoming, then you made it your obligation to be at the Florida Blue Florida Classic! The annual weekend unites fans and family to support the Florida A&M University Rattlers and Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats. Scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 16-18, it is a weekend filled of events for the entire family to enjoy.
The Florida Blue Florida Classic is the biggest rivalry game between historically black universities. The first game took place in Tallahassee in 1925. Once the rivalry began to gain more notoriety, the game was moved to a permanent location, Camping World Stadium, to support the increase of fans.
The Florida Blue Battle of the Bands is the most anticipated event of the weekend. Located at the Amway Center, the top high school marching bands from around the country come to perform an energetic routine. There is also a featured performance by the Marching 100 of Florida A&M University and the Marching Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman University.
The 38th annual Florida Blue Florida Classic is a continuation of FAMU’s homecoming theme, A FAMULY Reunion. While walking towards the stadium the atmosphere is filled with pride. There are supporters from both universities in their school paraphernalia, embracing each other on the way to the stadium. Inside the stadium, the energy is indescribable. Seeing supporters from young to old, makes you find a new love for the school you support.
