It would take me by great surprise if you’ve never heard of one of the most spirited and invigorating times in Tallahassee, FL, FAMU’s infamous homecoming week celebration.
Alumni, students, and others come from all over to experience this magical moment. Floods of exhilarating orange and green crowd the corners, enticing aromas fill the streets, and the atmosphere is set!
Not only does the football game draw the attention of the majority but there’s a whole week dedicated to our homecoming!
Scheduled for October 8th – 15th, “A FAMUly Reunion” is the theme for this year’s homecoming celebration.
A number of block parties, concerts, and other school events are planned to reiterate why we unite for this very special occasion.
Homecoming Game: Oct, 14th Florida A & M Vs North Carolina A & T
The most anticipated game here on the highest of 7 hills in fact, is our annual homecoming game! October 14th, 2017 none other than our very own Rattlers will be taking on North Carolina A & T’s Aggies. Thousands of Rattlers old and new will come together supporting our home team, with hopes for the big “W”!
Let’s not forget about those who assist in making halftime the most magnificent show in HBCU history, the marching 100! From performing in huge influential settings (performing for President Barack Obama in 2007), to present day, being invited to the Rose Bowl in 2019.
Are you excited for The Marching 100 experience yet?
FAMU is known for the most unique creations when it comes to school paraphernalia! Quotes like “FAMU made me”, “Straight from FAMU” or “FAMU way” exemplify the innovative way vendors use the very things that surround us as well as popular culture to illustrate school spirit!
The exposure to different foods is nothing short of amazing! We can hold Perry St. and Wahnish Way accountable for the most traffic on foot! Ribs, Chicken, Frozen lemonade, Sausages and Burgers, you name it! HBCU’s are known for the best meals at the most reasonable prices. Who can resist a good ol meal at a good ol price? The countless aromas captivating everyone’s nose, makes it extremely hard not to fall prey.
Aside from game day and what others may have to offer as far as entertainment, during our week long Homecoming celebration, the campus is also filled with events that illustrate our unity and commodore.
The Homecoming experience is meant for all to enjoy, most importantly the students housed on campus. What other way to accommodate everyone, than to offer events and activities off campus as well as off? It’s a celebration for us all!
