Spring is here! Come mid-March brings one of the most lively and luckiest holidays across the world—St. Patrick’s Day! On the 17th of March, people from all over gear up in their most vibrant shades of green to celebrate the famous Irish tradition. The holiday originated in Ireland during the 17th century, to honor the death of Christian patron Saint Patrick. Now most people use it as a day for drinking, feeling lucky, and having fun!
St. Paddy’s Day is all about commemorating Irish culture—from the green shamrocks, red hair, and endless green beer in a pub! Luckily you don’t have to go all the way to Ireland to experience a memorable March 17th. As Florida’s capital city, Tallahassee has plenty of excitement year-round for locals, college students, and visitors. When it comes to St. Patrick’s Day, Tally knows how to celebrate. From festive Irish meals to bar crawls to a Shamrock 5K, there are plenty of fun events to get into to honor St. Patrick. Irish-Style Dinner Party
Publix Aprons Cooking School at Village Square is hosting two demonstration-style cooking classes featuring Irish-inspired meals. The holiday menu includes salmon and Irish cheddar croquettes with chive vinaigrette, lamb meatballs with mushroom-leek gravy and herbed mashed potatoes, potato-crusted halibut with herb-cheese creamed kale, and Irish crème poke cake. They’ve even hinted at an Irish beer tasting! Is your mouth watering as much as ours? Tickets to the class are $65 each and reservations are made on a first come, first-serve basis. Must be 18+ to attend and 21+ for alcohol sampling.

Shamrock Scurry
Prep for St. Paddy’s Day early with one of Tallahassee’s oldest races! The Shamrock Scurry began back in 1981 and brings in around 1,000 regional runners each year. Proceeds go to local charities, youth rehabilitation, and feeding programs—which means you’re running for a good cause! Free shirts are available for the first 400 preregistered runners, or just show up in your most green attire! Tickets for the 1-mile race are $12, and tickets for 5K range from $15-20. Important: Those registering on the day of the race can only pay with cash or check. Registration and packet pick-up will begin at 7am.

St Patrick’s Day Crawl & Paddy’s Shamrock Stroll Bar Crawl
Pub Crawls is one of the most popular party hosts for college students—and they’re back to host not one, but TWO St. Patrick’s Day crawls. Double the drinks, double the luck! Tally students and locals will be thrilled to hear that each ticket includes entry into 4+ bars, a Pub Crawls wristband, a digital map, and up to 50% off exclusive holiday-themed drinks! Plus, they’ll have a photographer and videographer on site to capture wildly lucky adventure. Registration for tickets is free online, where more details are set to be released. Important: Must be 21+ to attend.

Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl
Are there ever enough bar crawls? We think not! Potbelly’s and Clyde and Costello’s have teamed up to host what they claim is the luckiest bar crawl of the year. Decide for yourself and drink your way around some of Tally’s favorite local bars. Doors open at noon and presale tickets are available for $20.

Finnegan’s Wake & Fire Betty’s St. Patrick’s Day
Two of our favorite local bars are joining forces yet again for another unforgettable St. Paddy’s Day! Irish pub Finnegan’s Wake and arcade bar Fire Betty’s are putting on an all-day event starting at 10am. You’ll be feeling the Irish luck with green beer, outdoor games, food trucks, and even Irish step dancers! Can it get any more festive than that? The best part—no cover to get in!
